Our Cashmere
Cashmere and Pashmina fibre is obtained from the underbelly of the Himalayan mountain goat that is found at an altitude of 12000-14000 ft and at a temperature of -40`C. It is a matter of fineness and quality that distinguishes Cashmere from Pashmina. The sheared fiber from the goats goes through multiple processes before becoming the finest Cashmere fiber we purchase. We import our fiber from companies in UK & France. The Cashmere fiber and garment manufactured are both certified to SGS Hongkong & Intertek UK. The pashmina fibre is 14-16 microns thick that makes it so soft
The fiber is converted to yarn by hand and machines in a Spinning & Twisting process.
Then the yarn is dyed using Azo Free Natural Colors and dried to make it ready for weaving.
Once the yarn is ready, it goes through a process called Warping (see picture below) which is the first step in weaving. Based on the design every Handloom is configured in a different way to produce the right thread pattern. Each Design uses a Punched Design Jacquard Cards ranging from 1000 - 2000 punches to weave one design.
Once the fabric is produced it goes through the finishing process which includes: washing, checking for loose threads, cutting to various sizes, pressing, and packing. Contact us if you have any questions.
